Some other larger members of this family are also occasionally or regionally referred to as "giant gouramis", including the banded gourami , Polyacanthus fasciatus, and the three spot gourami , Trichogaster trichopterus. In turn the giant gourami is also sometimes known as the banded gourami, rainbow gourami, or striped gourami. Giant Gourami build nests using weeds and twigs. Female Giant Gourami can be identified by their thicker lips. The Giant Gourami is native to parts of Indochina , Malaysia , Indonesia and India , but has been introduced elsewhere for the purpose of aquaculture . It lives in fresh or brackish water, particularly slow-moving areas such as swamps , lakes and large rivers . It is capable of breathing moist air, so can survive out of water for long periods. I found a piece of article in YellowPost dated May 25 - 31, 2007. The title: Why Should I Study....Again? by Hezreen Abdul Rashid. I would like to share the 7th paragraph with you: Ignorance may be bliss but the sweetness of knowledge is unsurpassed as success cannot be obtained without wisdom and sound education. Here is a story I would like to share with you in regards to the dangers of being ignorant. A man was standing by the beach one morning when he saw the giant waves thrashing a fish up and down. Determined to save its life, the man jumped into the water, caught hold of the fish and threw it on the sandy shores thinking that he had succeeded in saving it from drowning! Think about it....
