Some other larger members of this family are also occasionally or regionally referred to as "giant gouramis", including the banded gourami , Polyacanthus fasciatus, and the three spot gourami , Trichogaster trichopterus. Here is a story I would like to share with you in regards to the dangers of being ignorant. A man was standing by the beach one morning when he saw the giant waves thrashing a fish up and down. Determined to save its life, the man jumped into the water, caught hold of the fish and threw it on the sandy shores thinking that he had succeeded in saving it from drowning! Think about it....
